Google DNS Service Impact on our LIFE!!! Should we be scared???

Technology and Business Analyst
News in Focus:

Google Launching Its new DNS service on 3rd Dec 2009

Now this is a news everyone knows. If not you can follow the above link. But what I am going to discuss here is the impact of this move of Google on our life.

Google is acting very aggressively when you consider the internet platform. But with this public DNS, I was forced to analyze the motive behind this.

"POWER over INTERNET" or "POWER over OUR LIVES"??

Google has marked the beginning of its move towards changing the way traditional internet works by launch of its services like Chrome OS, Google Voice, Android, Public DNS and many other services.

But DNS is one giant leap towards "GLOBAL ISP".

Why this will make difference??

Google will have tremendous power on the behavioral analytics of every customer linked to their DNS.

MAGIC OF MAKING SITE DISAPPEAR!!

Till now. Google has been able to avoid being hoisted by its own Net Neutrality due to the fact that the firm has not been directly involved as an ISP, but rather has been a partner of ISPs such as T-Mobile.

But now they have started gaining ground and can impose more stricter rules on ISP by some or the other means. They have more money and power than the traditional ISP.

But now, the day came when Google gets further into the ISP business. Google is launching its own public DNS server.

The Google Public DNS is a direct launch of a service that ISPs provide, and that puts Google even further into the role of a gatekeeper.

They can already make a site disappear from the Internet from the perspective of their searchers, with no transparency in the process whatsoever. Now they can make a site entirely inaccessible to its users because without a DNS lookup, your webpage, your email, your everything will create error messages instead of connectivity.

This makes us think again and again about the Google Created internet dystopian future prediction by some internet gurus. If that happens, then we will surely regret this move of Google into our lives.

It also poses a question whether FCC will hold and control Google's DNS principles or will ignore all the happenings of Google. Also will it ensure the neutrality for Google towards its fellow website owners? Not sure......

Google has so many tools to provide answer to all these like Spam, Low Pagerank, etc.

At least we should not be shocked if this kind of things happens as these terms are been accepted by use from almost a decade.
