Why evaluate?

The job assigned to every employee needs constant evaluation and mentoring in order to gauge the developments and achievements of the employee. Just assigning a job to every employee does not mean the managerial role is over. Assessment and progression is what every manager should seek.

Even the most dedicated employee tends to lose interest at some point of time when he knows that his work is not going to be assessed. When the boss would never come to know that he skipped on certain amount of work or made a mistake while performing a task, then why take extra efforts is the attitude that the employee would bear.

The boss should not interfere in every step of the employee as it is a characteristic of a micromanager. Certain amount of freedom should be granted but frequent assessment is required. It may not be imperative to know how the employee meets his target but it’s important to know whether the employee has met with his target. There are certain bosses who do not have the time to review the work of each of its employee. In such cases a subordinate should be appointed who can take the bosses place as and when required.

Evaluation helps in deterring the talented individuals of an organization so that their abilities can be used to the maximum extent. Depending on the evaluation, goals, standards and objectives can be set. Not every employee is a performer but through assessment it can be found out that why a particular employee is not able to perform like others.

Estimation gives you the probability of being successful at a particular task. The outcome of a plan can be analyzed and it can be found out whether a particular plan is perfect or changes need to be implemented.

An audit or review is mandatory to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Evaluate to know where you stand and where you need to be.
