Promotion

A promotion is characterized by higher work responsibility and higher pay. A promotion brings out a change in the organization. The person who is promoted may bring about metamorphosis in the running of the institution or adept to the principles followed by his predecessor. But a new face at a new position takes a certain amount of time to acclimatize. If we are growing, we’re always going to be out of our comfort zone.

Promotions are a sensitive matter for an organization. First of all the right candidate needs to be promoted. Favoritism can lead to negativity. Also the seniority matters. A person new to the organization if promoted in place of a senior employee, it might create rifts. A much better technique for promotion is tests and interviews. This evaluation process nullifies prejudices. Also the time interval required for promotion should be maintained. Promoting an employee before he/she completes the eligibility period would be unfair to the other employees.

After thorough analysis if a person gets promoted, there are certain standards that he/she needs to preserve. With higher position comes huge responsibility. The position does not give you the privilege to look down upon your juniors. It is often seen that when one gets promoted, he shoves off those people who were his friends once. Why does your designation hinder your relationship? In fact maintaining those relationships just the way they used to be can help you in the long run.

Getting promoted should not get into your head. It surely counts for a celebration but at the same time it is important to keep your feet on the ground. Not stopping being our good self is the right attitude towards promotion.
