Designing an ideal resume
A resume also known as curriculum vitae highlights a person’s caliber, disposition and attributes on the basis of which he is judged and given a task. When there are innumerous number of people applying for a job, the initial selection procedure is based on their resumes. If your resume creates a lasting impression, half of your work is done.
Resume should not be too long or too short. The evaluator may not have the time to go through pages of qualities and qualifications. Even if you do possess multiple qualities, highlight the ones that are important so that analyzing it becomes effortless. A very short resume creates an impression of being under-qualified. Proper spacing and selection of appropriate font can make a difference.
Placing your qualifications in a chronological order is important. A haphazard resume is not only confusing but also displeasing. The chronological order defines your growth pattern. A flowering career conceives a positive impact and when there are multiple choices to look out for, the evaluators try to grapple the tiniest of mistake and reject a candidature. The order can also be designed on the basis of relevance to the particular job.
Even a small grammatical error can put off the employer. Running a spell check does not guarantee cent percent rectification of mistakes hence read the resume once again or ask a friend to read it to avoid making blunders.
Personal details, educational qualifications and experience are the three mandatory things to be included in your resume. Any detail apart from this should not be given more importance.
Your resume should be brief and to the point. Use active voice and adjectives should be mentioned in past tense like planned, organized, mentored, etc. An updated CV is a requirement that any organization seeks and failure to have an updated CV shows that you are lackadaisical.
Your resume should make you stand apart and attract the employer in just a glance. Take a little effort and make a lasting impression.
