The problem of lay-offs
The problem of lay-offs
Abrupt cessation or respite from ones workplace is the problem surfacing many individuals today. Recession has snatched many jobs and rendered people in a critical situation. Lay-offs may lead to acute depression thus we hear suicidal cases everyday due to unemployment. The bread-runners of the family if come face-to-face with such a situation then the survival of the whole family is jeopardized. Not able to fulfill ones responsibilities puts down a persons morale and hence the option of committing suicide envelopes.
It is thus the organizations duty to handle such circumstances with care. The employee should be given prior notification of the fact that he may lose his job so that he/she can search for other avenues to feed his family or cut down on expenses to survive without employment. The company should as far as possible try to find out other ways to compensate for their loss like the salaries or the leisurely activities can be reduced than by respite.
There are several ways through which one can get re-employed. Apart from the newspaper and online job portals, references are also beneficial. During your work experience, the contacts that you make are really important. The networking sites will also help you in acquiring work. At the time of recession, it is better not to expect too much or the same response from your newly-earned job. A little compromise here and there is essential. Time is the greatest healer. It may take time recuperate but remember that ‘success is going from failure to failure without the loss of enthusiasm.’
