Asus issues and fixes

I had the following issues with my Asus laptop, have you ever experienced any of them before? Anyway, I guess it’s beneficial for Asus users to discuss theirs issues and fixes together. Of course, anything you want to comment to my writing is welcome. ;)
1. Asus webcam upside down fix

Asus webcam upside down problem may be caused by driver compatibility. Here I am sharing the detailed steps to solve the problem.
1) First of all check how much is the pid, copy it when you find the pid.
2) when entering the support.asus.com page, choose series models there and search. Then in the pop-up box, choose the operating system type. Finishing this and search again.
3) Start the "camera” on the page out. Press ctrl + f, enter your pid, check which pid is corresponding with yours and get the right driver download version.
4) Extract the compressed files downloaded, double-click to run the exe file inside. If the webcam is still on after restarting, go to check your pid in the Device Manager. Disable the USB2.0 and restart the camera, the issue should be gone.
2. No sound on Asus laptop fix
1). Run
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/aliases
Comment every line beginning with alias char-major under the # character devices out with # and then insert the following code and save at last.
# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=z71v position_fix=1
# OSS/Free portion
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
# card #1
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
Basically, the whole process is done after finishing all the above, but this will result in slow computer starting. Moreover, when you adjust the volume control and open the video files with mplayer, it needs a relatively long process of reading. Therefore, in order to optimize the speed, we can do step 2.
2).Run
Code
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/options
In which add
options snd-hda-intel model=z71v position_fix=1
save and exit.
3. Asus Can’t use webcam on XP fix
After installing Win XP on Asus, users may find that the Asus built-in camera can’t work and the Asus CD-ROM and Web site does not provide webcam driver either. So where is the camera? The reason actually is that the USB webcam hasn’t been opened in BIOS, as long as you enter BIOS setting interface change the “Onboard Camera” under the “Onboard Device Configuration” to “Enabled” on the Advanced menu, then re-boot into XP system, you can automatically install the Asus drivers for it.
