Hiring a techie
My viewpoint is that afterall a company is a group of people who join together for the common good of the organization with the goal of attaining its objectives in the best possible way. An important factor in the above statement, if you noticed, is the "group of people". When different people join together to work towards a common goal, they should first be able to work together with the dedication and motivation required to achieve the results. Without the motivation to achieve and the desire to perform as a group, it is impossible to get to where you want to go as a company. Therefore, what I look for in a candidate when I am hiring is primarily "attitude". The attitude to do the best you can, in the best collaborative way possible, with the highest integrity possible. This is the one factor that holds back a lot of teams from achieving their goals more than their technical abilities or their communication skills. A candidate with adequate technical and communication skills and above all the right attitude towards work and an ability to learn new things is an unbeatable combination in my opinion.
