It all started a long time ago when few lazy men with their so called “out of the box” thinking were born. They invented few revolutionary products like “Bulb” & “Telephone”,  and since then the legacy continued. That was a big leap for humans because they realized that they can create something themselves, and that was the moment which led us to the world that we live in.

Necessity is the mother of all inventions

Nokia 3310, The invincible
Very well said…. but no one told us when and how to use these inventions :-P. So, now we have a cell phone with a music player in it, a tablet with surround sound speakers, a laptop with dozens of music players installed on it. But still, every day begins with a call, "where the hell did I put my iPod last night??". Why can't we use cell phone or tablet to listen to our favorite music? Why do we keep a number of gadgets when we don't use them?

My mother carries a Nokia 3310 with her. Yes, one of the last few operational pieces left on earth, and I think, she should be awarded a Nobel Prize for her contribution in conservation of ancient history .... :-D. We tried our best to convince her to get a new cell phone but nothing has worked yet. She is absolutely satisfied  with her current phone, and in some sense I agree with her. You don’t have to buy a weird device which either has a lot of buttons on it (some crazy people call it QWERTY) or no buttons at all (same crazy people call it TOUCH Screen) to make a couple of phone calls.

Features increase complexity ??

This could be our future. (Pic: Wall-E)
A mobile phone is no longer a phone now. You can watch live TV on your cell phone, and you can surf internet on your television. The wrist watch shows altitude & temperature and home theater has a big inbuilt clock in it. Why do we need so many features in a simple gadget? I literally have to dig into my watch to check the time, and whenever I have to call someone I need at least 5 minutes to find keypad and dial a number on my phone (I know they made a fool of me by selling me a windows 8 phone which supposedly comprises of all the features that a phone shouldn't have).

Well, I am not against use of technology and I am myself addicted to my phone & laptop without which I think I will not be able to survive a single day. I love gadgets like,  PS3 and X-box and I know every one does. But don't you think, these devices are becoming smarter day by day and we humans lazier? That reminds me of a beautiful depiction of this situation in the movie "Wall-E". If we continue to move on the same track, we are going to be lazy lumps  of meat lying here and there.

"Technology has changed our lives, but life was a lot simpler when a phone was supposed to make calls and watch was meant to display time only."
