Career Guidance: Prerequisite Towards Better Future.

Student of MBA

Behind an unsuccessful person there can be ‘n’ number of reasons. The most common reason is ‘lack of career guidance’.

We have read a lot of about individual differences in HRM, which says no two persons are alike, means every one is having their own personality & skills. If I am good with numbers & my brother is good with analysis then how we both can go for a same career?

Career guidance should start when a student is in High School, the schools/colleges can go for an attitude test of each & every student in the college & then accordingly, they can suggest the parents of the students for a right career. Only a few colleges are doing the same but I think it should be compulsory from all the education boards. It will also be beneficial for those students who having a village background or their parents are not so educated to suggest them for a career.

One more reason is that some times the parents force the students to choose their career according to them only (parents can be mother, father, uncle, maternal uncle any one). I think parents should only suggest the children about the career. There should not be any compulsion for the students while choosing a career.

Some times parents compare their child to other child like Mishra ji’s Son Bittu, Gupta Ji’s daughter Priti etc. (bench marking), they overlook the qualities & abilities of their own child. If a boy is good in games why to force him to join engineering?

I read somewhere that most of the parents look their own past in their children, they want to complete their unfulfilled dreams from their children. This is a curse for the children. Some parents are doing just the same, but we can’t suggest them because they feel that they are more intelligent than any one else.

Conclusion: The main purpose of writing this blog is to make aware every body with this topic ‘Career Guidance’. The Government & Education boards will take time in changing the rules & regulation, but if you are parents, then please ask to your children about their future career plan, suggest the career according to their own capability not according to ‘Mishra ji’s Bittu’ .
