Fixing Network Driver Errors
Things you will need:
Computer with Windows OS
Internet connection
Software disc that came with the hardware or device
Instructions
1. Check the information that came with your network device for compatibility issues; you need to know whether it is compatible with your computer, as well as the version of Windows you are using.
2. Check if the network device is properly attached to the computer.
3. Click on the "Start" button then choose "All programs." Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties" from the list of options. Select "Device Manager" from the "Properties window." In the "Device Manager" window, click the plus sign (+) beside the "Network adapters." This will list all the network devices installed. The network device that has an error should also have a yellow exclamation point right beside the network device icon. Double-click on the network device icon that causes the error. On the "General" tab, click on the "Troubleshoot" button and answer the "Troubleshoot Wizard's" questions. Follow the resolution steps provided by the "Troubleshoot wizard."
4. If Step 3 does not work, check if your hardware or network device came with a software disc. Use the disc to install the network device on your computer. Follow the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer. You can also go to the manufacturer's website to check for updates available for the device driver.
5. If no driver updates are available, try automatically updating the driver with a driver update software. It scans your computer system and gives correct recommendations and can get the network driver update you need within a few minutes safely and easily. If it’s necessary, Reboot your computer.
Note: A driver updater automatically scans your computer, looks for the drivers you need and installs them to your computer. They are very easy to use and can ensure that you will have the most up-to-date drivers for almost any computer brands and devices like dell drivers, nvidia drivers , ati drivers and lexmark printer drivers.
6. If the network device still shows an error, Go back to the device manager, right-click on the device that shows an error and select "Uninstall." Restart your computer and open the "Device Manager" again as soon as the machine is back up. Right-click on the device and then choose "Scan for hardware changes."
7. If the device continues to malfunction, the hardware or device may already be corrupted. Consider getting professional assistance from a computer technician.
