15 Days to CAT 2010: Strategies for final lap preparations
Following are the strategies for the next days to CAT 2010.
Focus on your strengths: By now, you should have started getting the idea on your strengths and weaknesses. It is advisable that you focus on your strengths and not spend more time on the weaker areas which you cannot tackle. Vivek Gupta says, “Now, you should start to build on your strengths. You can leave the one or two topics which are giving you real headache and master those which are your favorite.”
Take full length mock tests: Along with this, you should not stop taking mock tests. This will give you more idea on the test and developing the test taking strategy which is crucial at this stage. “Students should fine-tune their test-taking strategy, such as which section they plan to attempt at first (if they have any such preference), which type of questions they may choose to leave etc,” says Sidharth Balakrishna. He also mentions that you can then finalize these test taking strategies or practice them in the farther mock tests which you will take.
Watch your fellow CAT takers: Compare your preparation with fellow CAT takers. Along with your own performance, you must also check what your friends and fellow CAT takers are doing. You will get a competitive edge over them and while interacting with them, you can also come across some new and useful strategies and plans which can help you in cracking CAT. “See where you stand vis a vis the other students,” says Gupta.
Take CAT Practice test by Prometric & IIMs: Now since Prometric and IIMs have launched the CAT practice test, you should take the test frequently. This will be helpful for you to understand the navigation and functionality of the test. In order to understand the usage of the Mark and Review buttons and utilize them fully, you must keep taking the practice test and thoroughly go through the tutorial.
