Bennett Coleman Director addresses JBIMS 2010-12 Induction
amna Lal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai hosted a special Induction lecture for the 2010-12 batch by one of its noted alumnus to welcome the class of 2012. This special lecture was taken over by Rajneet Kate, Director, Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd. He shared his experiences right from his days at JBIMS to the position he is at present.
Rajneet Kate congratulated the new batch for making it to a premier B-School like JBIMS and said, "This is just the beginning of the journey."
He started with his days at JBIMS and talked about the importance of diversity in the batch that helps in broadening the horizons of thinking. He asked the students to get rid of the PLU (People Like Us) Syndrome and learn from every individual around. He focused on how important it was to build the soft skills to succeed in any field.
Kate further moved on to his learnings from his work life and emphasized how important it was for the students to understand the value of innovation in the work they do. "With the rising competition day after day, it is innovation and extensive cross functional exposure that will set you apart from the others. There is no birth right on being bright," he added.
He concluded by saying that the students must invest their two years in realizing their true potential and develop an insatiable appetite for knowledge. He ended the session on a positive note by reiterating the famous quote of Archimedes, "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it and I shall move the world".
