MP MET 2011: All about the state level MBA entrance exam

You are now familiar with the MAH CET, the MBA entrance exam of the state of Maharashtra, and GCET, the MBA entrance exam of the state of Gujarat.

Continuing with our special series on the upcoming state-level MBA entrance exams, today we bring to you the detailed information on the entrance exam for admissions to the B-schools of the state of Madhya Pradesh, the Madhya Pradesh Management Entrance Test (MP-MET).

 

The exam is conducted by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), Bhopal.

Exam Pattern
MP-MET is a multiple choice objective questions test which contains 200 questions. The format is paper pencil based, where you would have to darken the circle of the correct option in the OMR sheet. The duration of the paper is three hours.

There are six sections of the test. These are: Reading Comprehension, Verbal & Writing Ability, Numerical Ability, Business Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and Business Judgment.

There are three marks for each correct answer. There is no negative marking for the MP-MET paper. Hence the total marks for MP-MET paper is 600. In the MP-MET 2010 paper, there were 30 questions in the Reading Comprehension section, 60 questions in the Verbal & Writing Ability, 50 questions in the Numerical Ability and 20 each in Business Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and Business Judgment sections.

Eligibility
Candidates should be graduates or post graduates with at least 50 per cent marks from any institute recognized by UGC or AICTE. Candidates in final year of graduation or post graduation can also apply.

Institutes accepting MP MET scores
A total number of 26 B-schools based in Madhya Pradesh will accept the MP-MET 2011 scores. Some of the prominent B-schools are IMS DAVV, Indore; Prestige Institute of Management & Research, Indore; IIPS DAVV, Indore and The School of Management, IPS Academy, Indore.

Estimated date for the exam
MPPEB has not yet announced the MP-MET 2011 exam. Going by the previous exam schedule, MP-MET 2010 was held in April 18, 2010. The exam was announced on January 27. The GD PI was conducted from June 23 to July 23, 2010. The final result was declared on July 28, 2010.

Going by the 2010 schedule, the MP-MET 2011 announcement can be expected in January 2011.

Tips for cracking MP MET 2011
The advantage of MP-MET 2011 is that there is no negative marking. Hence, you can attempt maximum number of questions without worrying about negative marking. Much emphasis is given to the Verbal and Writing Ability questions and Reading Comprehension, followed by Numerical Ability. Hence Verbal Ability should be your forte to crack MP-MET exam.

You should start your preparation by taking sectional and comprehensive mock tests. After that, analyze your test properly. Check the method of the questions you attempted. Try to increase the speed of solving each question.

To increase the speed in the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension you should build a reading habit. Building your vocabulary and regular practice will help you score well in the Verbal & Writing Ability section.

For the other sections like Numerical Ability, Business Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and Business Judgment, all you need to do is practice from the Math questions and Data Interpretation & Reasoning questions.
