AIESEC hosts Youth to Business Summit at ISB, Hyderabad
AIESEC which is currently holding its 62nd Annual AIESEC International Congress 2010 at Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad organized its Global Youth-to-Business summit on Thursday, August 26, 2010 for delegates from over 107 countries at ISB campus.
The 62nd AIESEC International Congress 2010 is an annual congregation of AIESEC, the world's largest student-run, not-for-profit organization that aims to foster global understanding through international experiences and leadership development.
The 62nd AIESEC International Congress 2010 is the largest international youth gathering ever held in India. The conference which began on August 23 and will go long till September 1, 2010 has successfully brought 700 young leaders from over 107 countries together to analyze the current state of the world, global issues, and emerging trends. The theme of the congress is Converging Leadership and Diversity.
The summit included keynote speakers and interactive workshops with the delegates and prominent representatives of over ten companies that currently hold global partnerships with AIESEC. Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB Hyderabad praised AIESEC's initiative during his welcome speech, saying "The topics being discussed by these young leaders now align perfectly with the issues that business leaders will face in the future."
The keynote speaker was Anand Pillai Senior Vice President and Global Head of Quality, Talent Transformation and "Intrapreneurship" Development, HCL. On the topic of staying motivated as members of a leadership development organization, he explained, "Youth leaders must constantly be re-evaluating and raising their standards, year after year, even if objectives and goals have been achieved."
Highlighted speakers included Miranda Ash, Global Director, WorldBlu Community, who commended AIESEC for being one of the top companies to be given the honor of 'Most Democratic Workplace' by saying, "Democratic workplaces build better societies - the most democratic workplaces have the most power to affect change within their environment."
In addition to the conference delegates, who came from 107 countries in the AIESEC network, ISB students also joined in on the discussions. The three focus areas of the summit were Harnessing Youth Innovation, Labor Mobility and Diversity, and Responsible Corporate Behaviors.
Numerous workshops were also conducted around these areas by Tata Consultancy Services, Alcatel-Lucent, Deutsche Post DHL, Vale, Husqvarna, Education First, Quest Alliance, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Future Considerations, Unilever, and Electrolux.
