Can you tell us about
JIM, Noida?
Jaipuria Institutes of
Management are the brainchild of noted industrialist and philanthropist, Mr.
Sharad Jaipuria, CMD, Ginni International, a leader in the
field of textile exports. The success of this noted industrial group lies in
their ability to evolve and adopt latest technological and managerial
innovations. The group has ventured into setting up a power plant in Himachal
Pradesh. The same philosophy of staying abreast with the latest developments in
the management field is applied by the promoters to the running of Jaipuria
Institute of Management.
What
is your vision for JIMs, and JIM, NOIDA in particular?

We are confident to see JIM,

India in the coming five years, and of course, among the top-3 Services
Management institutes in India.

is the positioning of JIM, Noida with a vis-à-vis other schools? What are your
target peer schools as of now, or say after five years?

Candidates from all walks of life
/ disciplines with a consistent track record of academic performance and an
aptitude to become a successful Manager / Entrepreneur.

is the cut-off CAT (or other exams which JIM accepts) percentile at JIM, Noida?
It will vary from batch to batch.

What
advice would you like to give people who might have a good CAT score but not so
good past academic performance in past?
We encourage candidates with a
good CAT score to prefer our institute for pursuing their MBA studies, if they
are serious about learning from the experienced faculty at an institute with a
strong industry linkage. We seriously consider candidates who are consistent in
their academic background (need not be toppers throughout), and also those who
have shown promise of improving their academic performance subsequently in
their studies. Candidates with good track record in sports and extra-curricular
are given due consideration.

What is the usual
faculty profile at JIM, Noida?
9 full-time Core faculty of the Institute + supported by 17 Visiting
courses faculty from Academia & Industry + Industry Guest Speakers (about
15-20 per year).
33% of the full-time faculty is with Ph.Ds from Indian Universities; 55%
are at advanced stage of completion of their Ph.D. studies; one member of
faculty is with a foreign degree and one faculty member has full-time
experience of teaching at IIM Bangalore, XLRI, ASCI Hyderabad besides being a
visiting summer faculty at McGill University, Montreal and Research Fellow of
UNDP Project and at Manchester Business School on a British Council Fellowship.
The visiting course faculty
comprises of management professionals (including from IIMs), Chartered
Accountants and Cost Accountants, besides those with industry experience and a
couple of them with Ph.Ds.

Do
you have any specific programmes related to Entrepreneurship?
There is a compulsory course on
Entrepreneurship Management as a part of our PGDM course. We intend offering a
specialized course in the field in the near future.

there any particular stream in which JIM, Noida is known to be strong?
Marketing Management, Financial
Services Management, Insurance & Risk Management, HR Management and
Services Management.

These
days there is huge focus on placements at MBA institutes. Since JIM, Noida is
an upcoming B-school, what kind of placement programme you intend to have to
attract best companies?
At JIM, Noida, placement of students is an integral part of our
academic-industry networking programme. The programme commences from Guest
Sessions by senior / top management of the leading corporate of India, and is
built upon the basis of live projects studies done by our students, development
of case studies, conduct of in-company training programmes by the faculty,
summer placement training of the students, and ultimately, in the final
placement of students. This integrated programme enables the corporate to
thoroughly evaluate the caliber of the students and also the students in
gaining in-depth familiarity with the corporate culture and helping them plan
their career and not just be looking for a job. This networking also assists
the institute and the faculty in constantly updating the curricula and
designing of industry relevant courses.

there any sector or function-specific focus in targeting companies?
Financial Services, Insurance
& Risk Management, Marketing, and Services Management firms.

Name
some of the companies that have been recruiting at JIM, Noida.
The first batch of PGDM will be
available for final placement in April 2008. The information given below
relates to recruitment of our earlier two-year full-time MBA course affiliated
to U. P. Technical University, Lucknow. The placement experience will be
significantly superior from April 2008.

These days we are
seeing a very high level of interest in Executive MBA as there are lot many
people, specially IT professionals, who wish to have an additional degree
without leaving their jobs. Is there any plan at JIM, Noida to launch executive
MBA programmes or part-time (distance / evening programmes) for corporate
executives? Will you be offering any placements assistance to your Executive
MBA programmes?
JIM, Noida will be offering a Three-Year Part-Time Programme for
working managers. Any placement assistance to such students will not be a
morally right thing on our part, as we intend encouraging such students to
obtain sponsorship for joining the course from their employers. JIM, Noida is
also contemplating to offer One-Year Full-Time Executive MBA Programme in the
near future. No placement assistance to such students will be offered by the
Institute.

Tell
us about campus life at JIM, Noida outside academics.
To assist our students fit in the
global corporate culture, the institute follows a holistic approach of
developing committed managers who are equally sound in academics as well as in
managing co- and extra-curricular activities. Such activities include their
participation in personality grooming through presentations, public speaking,
mock interviews, aptitude tests, industry interactions, and also the
preparation and participation in various seminars / conferences, quiz contests,
music & dance programmes, sports tournaments, festival celebrations and the
annual management festival of the institute.
The goal is accomplished through a range of
activities and programmes organized by the institute's numerous cells, such as
Sports Cell, Cultural Cell, Infrastructural Cell, Industry-Interface Cell, The
Management Festival Committee, Finance Club, Talent Club, Marketing Club, and
of course, the Hostel Gym. All these initiatives and activities contribute to a
very lively life at JIM, Noida campus.
