Q: What has been the approach in the pedagogy in
yourcollege?
DBS provides strong conceptual knowledge in first year
ofstudies. Students are taught through case studies, role plays
andpresentations. Then they are sent on internships and given an opportunity
totake up live projects in second year. We train them on soft skills and
businessconcepts at the same time. A lot of learning happens by exposing them
tosimulations and management games.
Q: Tell us briefly about your selection process? What
doyou look for in a student while selecting him/her?
We have a 4-tier selection process. We select students
whohave qualified national level management entrance tests like ATMA, CAT,
MAT,JC-CAT, NAT, etc. with minimum 50 percentile. The student then takes a
casestudy that helps us understand his general attitude and knowledge.
Thereafter,he shares ideas in a group discussion and takes personal interview.
After thisthe short listed candidates take up a telephonic round of interview
fromcorporate HO of DBS and are sent selection letters. DBS ensures that
nodeserving candidates are missed out. We basically check a student’s
attitudeand his will to outperform by keeping everyone else along.
Q: What has been the placement record in your lastbatch?
Our placements in last batch stood at 3 lacs
average package, and 85% of the total batch was placed. For 2009, the placements
were a little lower than last year due to economic downturn. Still we managed
good companies like Panasonic, Berger paints, HDFC, Japan Airways and others
by getting many more companies on campus and by giving students ample
corporate exposure through internships, seminars, guest speakers and live
projects.
