Narayanaguru College of Engineering is one of the leading Engineering Colleges in South India. Silicon India interviewed Mr. J.V.S. Lal, Training and Placement Officer of Narayanaguru College of Engineering at Tamil Nadu. This is how the interview goes :

Please tell us in brief about the institute.

Narayanaguru College of Engineering (NGCE) is being in the field of education since 2001 and is approved by AICTE affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Thirunelveli. NGCE imparts value-based and discipline-oriented modern technical education of global standards at affordable costs. Our groups are Narayanaguru College of Engineering, Narayanguru Siddhartha College of Engineering and Siddhartha College of Teacher Education.

The Founder of our institute is Dr. G. Siddhardhan, former Registrar, University of Kerala. He has worked as Lecturer, Professor and Post Graduate Professor of Commerce in various Colleges till 1992, when he joined Anna University, Chennai, as the Head of Management (MBA) Division and then became Registrar, University of Kerala in 1997. Dr. G. Siddhardhan is in overall charge of NGCE and Siddhartha College of Teacher Education, both founded by him. He guides Ph.D work and also teaches MBA.

What are the various courses being offered to the students?

The various courses being offered to the students are: B.E., B. Tech., MCA, MBA, ME, M. Tech., M. Sc. and MBA Courses.

Please share something about the placement record of the college. What are the primary sectors that the students were placed in?

This year about 193 candidates from our college got placed in some of the leading companies like HCL, IBM, CTS, Nokia, SITEL, TATA TEL, Reliance Communications, ING VYSYA, Yes Solutions, Shoppers Stop, HTMT, Aviva, Eureka Forbes, Sriram Groups, FOXCONN etc.  Mention may be made that our college is the first college in the history of Kanya Kumari District to organize a Job Fair and more than 1400 candidates participated in this year’s Job Fair.

How long is the summer internship for the first year MBA students?

The summer internship for the first year MBA students lasts from about 25 to 45 days.

How does your college differentiate from others in term of placement?

In terms of placements, our college’s Placement Cell is very different from other colleges’. Our well-trained placement team comprises of 12 placement coordinators headed by the Training and Placement Officer. Our college has organized two consecutive Job Fairs Events in 2010 and 2011, and 12 On/Off Campus Recruitment Program within a period of one year. The CRP is conducted in two sessions: the first session starts from mid of November to mid of December and the second one, from January to February.
