Praxis Business School celebrates the spirit of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneur cell of Praxis Business School
celebrated its annual mega event, E- Week, from 6th to 13th February.
E-Week celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit in an individual and encourages
him/her to think like an entrepreneur. The theme for this year’s E-Week
celebration was “Opportunities within India”.
The main event during this E-Week celebration was an inter-college business
quiz competition Business Incubaitor. Master quizzer and Associate Dean of
Praxis, Prof. Charanpreet Singh was the quiz master. Many well-known colleges
from within and around Kolkata participated in the quiz. The team from Asansol
Engineering College emerged as the winner, leaving behind other teams from
eminent institutes like IIMC, IIFT, Presidency College, and AIM. Prizes
worth Rs.30,000 were distributed to the top three teams.
The 100 Rupees Business Plan Competition added fun to the whole event
celebration. In this event, the students formed small groups and each group
started a business venture, within the campus for a week. Throughout the week, Praxis
had the privilege of having CEO’s of various companies in Kolkata coming to its
campus to deliver talks, speeches, and participate in panel discussions. CEO
talk started with Mr. Hari, the Managing Director, Ontrack Systems Limited.
Venture capitalist Mr. Rajeev Mantri, a graduate of Northwestern University and
Executive Director of Navam Capital, addressed the students about Start up
Financing. Mr. Arvind Saraogi, Managing Director, Apollo Clinic discussed the
franchisee business model. Mr. Saraogi stressed the need for mental tenacity
and the never give up attitude, to be a successful entrepreneur.
Mr. Amitava Bhattacharya, Director, i-Land Information Limited delivered an
enriching on Social Entrepreneurship. Mr. Bhattacharya shared his experiences
of initiatives taken up in rural India thus, driving the point that foundation
of a successful venture is not huge capital but simple, feasible ideas.
The week-long celebrations ended with prize distribution and a Panel discussion
on the topic Challenges faced by Women Entrepreneurs. The panel comprised Ms.
Salmoni Mukherji, and Ms. Gunjan Poddar. Ms. Mukherjee is the Director of
Applecart, and CEO of Salmoni Mukerji Associates and CEO of FICCI-FLO,
09-10. Ms. Poddar is the Chairperson of YFLO (Young Ficci Ladies
Organization), Kolkata and Director of Jorehaut Tea Limited.
