Do you really need Antivirus Software?
I don't think you need an antivirus software if you are using DOS or Similar Software, Do not transfer Data using flash drives or external drives, Do not user internet or use email. But if you don't do all this things, why do you need computer. The answer is simple. If you have computer and you are using it; you need good antivirus software to protect it.
Today, New viruses, spyware, trojans, worms, and other malware are created every day. The virus landscape has also changed; they can not only crash your system but they can steal your data, they can hijack your email accounts, they can start sending emails to your friends, contacts and customers.
Now since you know that you need to have an antivirus software, next question is which is good antivirus software?

If you use your computer in corporate network where you already have protected internet, secure emails and firewall on your network; you may not need firewall, email protection, web protection in your software. unless you have a laptop which you use outdoor or use USB modem like TATA/reliance.
If you are not in protected network environment or you are on small office network, you must use software which provides you complete protection against Internet Virus, web site filtering, firewall and other such features.
Ease of Use
It's like having all kind of weapons but you do not know how to use them. It's as good as not having any protection. If you can't use your antivirus software you may not be protected. Ease of use is very important when it comes to configuring settings, tuning your application, allowing or blocking access to some sites etc.
Updates
If your antivirus is not updated it will not be able to detect latest threats and will not protect your computers of networks. While selecting antivirus software you must also check how soon vendor is releasing updates for new threats.
