My Space was purchased for $580 Million and sold on June 30, 2011 for USD 35 Million.  Lesson…… if you don’t continue to reinvent and be closer to the consumer you will die of diarrheadiarrhea for online users.

June 28, 2011 – Tuesday, Google launched Google+ in a limited field test version.   Google+ is a response to the growing Klout of Facebook in the Social Media world.  And looking from the first impressions it is a different experience from what is offered by Facebook; and a  marked different from the earlier half hearted attempt with Google buzz.  Nonetheless, the biggest challenge for Google+ is to figure out how it can attract online users to its community and continue to keep them away from their Facebook community.

Facebook seems to have over 700 Million plus users whereas over 80% of internet users use Google to Google their information on the net.  But can Google leverage this mass to Google+.    I am sure they can with three simple strategic steps:

-      Extending a different, better and a more friendly online experience.

-      Continuing enhancements reflecting user moods.

-      Security

From the first look; Google+ seems to offer a colorful look, a feel-good and friendlier experience. Secondly, Google has been known to continuously add value for its Internet users.  Thirdly, the security concerns which will be of paramount importance in the coming few months is something Google+ needs to work on to uplift user confidence.

And if the above “3” can be achieved it will reflect a BIG threat to Facebooks dominance.  And no sooner than when Google+ is officially launched will we know the side the wind has chosen to blow.  Having said that, people would like to try out Google+ and trying it could become an obsession provided Google plus can hold on to them. Google+ needs to build up a repository of goodies to encourage early adopters to continue returning else, let me reiterate that ……………My space was bought for $580 Million by News Corporation in 2005 and sold on June 28, 20111 for USD 35  Million.
