You have signed up for twitter, complemented your profile and ready to tweet.  Wait: go back review your profile.  Does your profile reflect who you are ? Does it say where you are going? Does it reflect your interest, hobby, passion or only the job title ?   Well go back adopt the right moves.

  1. Your Picture: Use a smart, professional head shot in your Twitter profile
  2. Your Profile: Twitter provides 160 characters to project your profile, so make it count and use keywords that will be recognizable to others in your industry (such as "Business Development Manager", "Systems Analyst” or “ICT Director”).
  3. URL or Blog: You are also allowed a URL in your Twitter profile.  Unless you have your own PROFESSIONAL blog use your LinkedIn profile.
  4. Refer People: Refer right candidates to people hiring or the HR community.  Its called Boomerang effect; what you give comes back and a very powerful weapon when it comes to influencing people.
  5. Follow Experts: Follow experts that have original and relevant content for your industry.
  6. Create & Share content: Create and share important, relevant content on your industry.
  7. Expert Status: Research and pick up what is buzzing in your industry and write blog on the topic to share with your community. Aim to achieve an Expert Status in your industry.
  8. Follow Recruiters:  Follow leading recruiters in your industry.
  9. Set alerts for Job listings: There are Twitter accounts dedicated to providing job listings by field, company, region, and more. Decide which best match your job search and turn on the alert for these accounts.
  10. Announce:  And if you are actively looking for a job, tweet it.
