Shrinking Creativity
Every human has the creative streak; the bigger question is; do you realize your creative potential and unlock it ?
90% of people do not realize their creative potential whereas 6% realize much later in their life and just 3% strike early. The successful 3% are in the right ambiance, with the right mindset tools, rubbing shoulders with creative geniuses and creating under peers eye.
Why such low % of creative individuals? And why are there such high failure rates when the current environment demands creativity? I suppose it’s our education system, because it has not kept pace with the emerging trends and pace of innovation obsolescence wherein what is new now, is the commodity of the next hour. Secondly it’s individual initiative and guidance.
How do you increase creativity? I have “4” suggestions
- Change the education systems: Experiment with emphasis on creativity, innovation and result with a difference. Provide the students time, resources and right ambiance for creativity.
- Train your thinking: Our mind is a store house of ideas that we may have never comprehended but to get those ideas out, you must train yourself to thinking proactively. Divide your thinking time into five categories i.e. Self; Family; Profession; Health and Finance. Think about how you can contribute more towards them. Invest regular pockets of time on thinking, unstructured and structured thinking.
- Ask: This parameter is under our control but gets into formative mode during our childhood years. As a child if you have been encouraged to ask and been responded to encouragingly you will develop the will of curiosity. You will develop the will to ask why or why not and this is the step in the direction of unlocking your creativity.
- Reward Failures: The winners are rewarded whereas failures are scorned. This attitude should change and failures should be rewarded too. Without failures there are no lessons. Without failures many inventions and creations would have not have seen the light of the day.
So get set and create, innovate and result with a difference.
