One of the most competitive field in internet world is searching. we started our searching with altavista, yahoo and msn. but now the name searching is changed to googling. The search engine giant google made that much impact among internet users. For the last 10 years google is the first choice for us. May be the user friendly nature and diversity of google are the key success factors for this. It is a dream for Microsoft to dominate in internet world. Is that dream coming in to true?
I already mentioned about the first movers to searching world. Microsoft was one among them, they started fighting with MSN which cant satisfy users needs. After this google introduced live. It was like old wine in a new bottle. It cant cope up with the success logic of google.
After live, Microsoft seriously thought about acquiring yahoo. corporate world looked this as one of the biggest deal which is going to happen. Microsoft gave up this attempt because of some other reasons. Microsoft rise up with new ideas. At last they thought about a new simple,attractive, decision making search engine. They want their new engine to work with new logic irrespective of others. The engine should understand what the users really want, So they called it as “decision engine”.
Microsoft wants a name for their new baby which is memorable , simpler, attractive, and more interesting than the name google.
It is heard that Microsoft approach for a multinational branding consultancy named interbrand for the same. Finally they choose the name “BING”. Bing is a chineese word wich means “that provides a definite answer”. According to some others BING is the abbreviation of Bing Is Not Goolge.
When we are giving a new keyword in google it wil search for all possible words including synonyms and thesaurus. The large number of result generating by the google can be a headacke for users. In some situations users cant find exact link.
Features of BING:
· The engine provides minimum no:of result links.
· When we keep cursor over the links it will give a short description about the links.
· We can play the previews of video links when mouse over it.
· We can search on the basis of size, colour, and resolution.
· We can find a list of related results (if you search for google we can see yahoo, rediff and youtube links).
· We can make a categorized search such as health, tour, video, shopping, news, translation etc.
· The home page made attractive by backgrounding pictures of most memorable places in this globe wich changes daily.
· Mapping system of Bing is excellent.
Microsoft launches bing on 2009 june 3rd. the world gave a remarkable feedback within a sort span of time. But the fact is, “People wont change even if they have a better option, they wil change when they realize that there is no other option”.
