How to Remove Music File Inserted From PowerPoint

Software Tech
All of you have once inserted music or movie clips in Microsoft PowerPoint, right? Do you come across these situations when a friend sends you a PowerPoint or you made the PowerPoint long time ago and you don’t want the inserted music? The solution is to remove the music. Do you know how to do it?

Basically when you add music in PowerPoint, there should be a sound icon on the slide, so you can just select the icon and click “Backspace” or “Delete” to remove the inserted music.

This is the simplest way. However, what to do if there is no sound icon on the slide?

The music you added in PowerPoint will be showed in the slide animations, so you can click “Custom Animations” to remove the music.

For PowerPoint 2007 and PowerPoint 2010 users, simply click “Animations” – “Custom Animations” and you could see the music on the right, select it and click “Remove”.

For PowerPoint 2003 or previous versions, you should right click on the slide and choose “Custom Animations”. Before that, you should uncheck the “Allow fast saves” in “Tools” – “Options”. The “Allow fast saves” function has been remove from Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010.

Why should you disable the “Allow fast saves” option?

A fast saved file is a document in which the physical order of characters stored in the file does not match the logical order of characters in the document that the file represents. In other words, changes to the file are appended to the end of the file. So files sizes can increase when the “Allow fast saves” option is turned on.
