Top 10 ad campaigns during IPL.
The Top 10
Here’s a look at 10 of the most effective advertising campaigns during the super sporting marketing extravaganza, starting from number 10.
10. Glucon-D : The ad isn’t extravagant or outstandingly creative, but it hits it at the right spot, the message about glucose being as important as water is bound to make sense to most of the mothers who are worried about their Yuvi’s and Dhoni’s sweating it out in the scorching sun.
9.) Nokia (sabki jeet pakki) : Perhaps the only thing the SRK owned black and gold outfit managed to get right this season, the potshot made towards the end makes the sales promotion campaign even more appealing.
Off course who wouldn’t win if even KKR does.
8.) LG LCD TV : A picture speaks that normally speaks a thousand words, astonishingly speaks a million when its on LG-LCD, at least that’s what the smiling toddler seems to suggest. The ad campaign may not have the mass appeal of some other campaigns, but definitely strikes to someone in a mood to buy a new TV set.
7.) Coca Cola : Prasoon Joshi and Amir Khan combo will create magic 10 out of 10 times, the storyline about Love Marriages becoming increasingly acceptable in India these days is easy to relate to, it powerfully talks abt the essence of family in the Indian culture despite of rapidly changing norms.
The only glitch with coke is that they change their positioning too much too often, it hasn’t been too long since the powerful “thanda Matlab Coca Cola “ worked wonders in the ad world which was replaced by the “Sir utha ke Piyo” essentially appealing pride and now to happiness and culture.
6.) Airtel : Madhvan and Vidya Balan light up the screen in this one, the storyline is crisp capturing the slowdown sentiment and how it has effected almost each and everything we do. “My airtel, my offer “ already has busy support team replying to endless queries. Wud have done better by talking about some offers as well.
5.) Chevrolet : Chevrolet’s clever jibe seems to be working right. Without mentioning other cars they managed to talk about the painfully expensive maintenance. Coupling it with the offer of giving absolutely free maintenance makes other cars actually look like elephants .
4.) Max New York Life- retirement plans : Awaragardi is in vogue –and how, Max New york life smartly brings the positive out of an otherwise negative word. The storyline is witty and makes any man secretly wish to live that life.
3.) Nokia 7210 : This Priyanka Chopra starrer is a winner all the way, Piggy jumping up and down in trendy outfits make an instant appeal to the target audience, talking about a normal teeny weeny girl, Priyanka manages to say exactly what they feel . The punch line “Its not just a phone, its who we are “ is instrumental in making the perfect connect.
2.) Vodafone: Zoozoos have captured the imagination of the nation, the adorable character has effortlessly made the gud ol Pug a thing of the past. Zoozoos have been noticed by one and all and have been far more effective in catching eyeballs than even the most expensive ambassador.
Too bad that they are mostly talking about Value Added Services which isn’t a significant differentiator in case of Mobile service providers, hence the character ‘kind-of’ overshadows the brand. People look forward to the next Zoozoo episode, but how effective they are in influencing sale or even increase in usage remains to be seen.
1.) Airtel Broadband : “They say we are impatient” –even more ever since the ad appeared. Airtel ad spectacularly manages to combine the emotional as well as rational appeal in one power packed snippet.
The advert may not have the mass appeal of the Zoozoo, but definitely hits the nail on its head. The mood, the music, the storyline everything falls perfectly in place for the genY net freaqs to long for an “Impatient life”.
