10 Reasons why Blogs Fail

Out of the thousands of blogs launched everyday, only a few go on to establish a significant presence in the blogosphere.

Here are some reasons why a large number of blogs fail:

1. First thing bloggers want is to make money

Most of the time the purpose behind starting a blog is to make money. There is nothing wrong with making money; however there are better things to do before one thinks about monetization.

Bloggers need to work hard with the content and the search engine optimization for a few months.

Bloggers put a lot of ads in the beginning and do not bother about what they are offering to the readers.

Readers want high quality articles, it is only then that they will become returning visitors. How will a blog ever make  money without any traffic?

2. New bloggers try to copy the top bloggers

A lot of people come across top blogs like JohnChow.com. They get inspired by the how such bloggers make thousands of dollars every month.

After that they set up their own blog and start writing about topics such as “make money online” and “affiliate marketing”.

They fail to understand that “make money online” is not the field about which they have much knowledge about. “Make Money Online” is not their niche and area of expertise.

3. Poor Search Engine Optimization

Many Bloggers simply ignore the significance of SEO. They don’t submit to blog directories nor do they do any keyword research.

Most of them don’t know the importance of a proper domain name, title tags, SEO friendly permalinks and tagging.

4. Not connecting and networking with other Bloggers

Many Bloggers don’t interact and network with other bloggers. They don’t understand that professional blogging can’t be done in isolation.

Their work goes unnoticed by the people from the community. They lose potential readers, visitors and collaborators.

5. Not Updating

A lot of bloggers fail to update their blog on a regular basis. Returning visitors always want something new. They look forward for new and interesting articles.

Readers forget about blogs that are not updated. They go and read other blogs.

6. Poor quality posts

Bloggers fail to succeed when they don’t focus on unique and timeless content. Also, they write articles that are not detailed and are of low word count.

They don’t realize that such content won’t be good enough to engage the readers.

7. Lack of Research

Many Bloggers do not make any research before starting a blog.

They set up a blog and as time goes by they slowly keep getting to know about things like Keywords, SEO, Useful plugins, Commenting on other blogs, Social Bookmarking and so on.

This way a they waste lot of time, effort and energy.

8. Unprofessional attitude

Many Bloggers don’t think and work like professionals. They don’t have any working hours, schedule, business plan or any strategy.

This unprofessional attitude adversely affects the growth of their blog.

9. No Patience

Bloggers get frustrated when they are unable to build traffic and make any money. They quit completely or start another blog.

They don’t understand that establishing a revenue generating blog takes time. It’s similar to any other business that requires patience, consistency and determination.
