Prise Rise and Government's excuses
As food prices rage on a northbound journey, food inflation inched up to 18 per cent. The government has consistently refused to accept its own responsibilities and has sought to explain away high prices through lame excuses, one of them being that high inflation rates are a global phenomenon. A comparison of the consumer price index of the G-20 group of countries shows why this alibi does not work.
G20 Countries: Consumer Price Inflation for December 2009
Country Annual Inflation Rate
India 14.97
Russia 8.8
Argentina 7.7
Turkey 6.5
South Africa 6.3
Brazil 4.3
Saudi Arabia 4.2
Mexico 3.6
UK 2.9
Indonesia 2.8
USA 2.7
Australia 2.1
China 1.9
Canada 1.3
Germany 0.9
Japan -1.7
The question is who will stop price rise?
In this connection I have a question. Who want it to be stopped? Majority of the people in this country have been declared under "BPL- Below Poverty Line" and all efforts are made by the governments in power to give them ration and electricity at 15% of the market price. So price rise Hit them but do not Hurt! A huge majority of people (42%) do not participate in the voting, thus have no right to complaint against the price rise.
Some of the are reasons are :-
1 ) Collective effort of WORSE DOMESTIC POLICIES ON SUGAR AND WHEAT, TAXES AND DUTIES , VAT , CORRUPTION (despite having record production of sugar in last 2 years)
2) Astrologer Mr Sharad Pawar
In the period of 3 months, the agricultural minister of India has to change his statement from “we have enough storage of food” to “prices will keep rising because of insufficient food production”.
The state from where he hails, Maharashtra is the heartland of the sugar barons with prominent business units controlling the sugar industry.Pawar’s stronghold in Western Maharashtra is the sugar industry and corruption exists at its peak. And if I am not mistaken, Sharad Pawar's daughter herself owns a sugar mill. So definitely personal benefits comes first then only comes benefit for the people!
The poor health of the sugar industry right is primarily due to the policy of the system rather than inflation that can be said to be ONE of the causes. Sugar factories were forced to convert into unprofitable ventures. Farmers too stopped growing sugarcane because of which the high sugar producing industries were not able to get the sugarcane supply from their own farmers. These factories are turning to outside farmers for 55% of their raw material. Naturally the prices are bound to increase with transportation and so on. It is one of the reasons for the rise in farmer suicides that's high in Maharashtra too.
Let the feeble Mr Sharad Pawar be busy with the BCCI and also consult an astrologer to know how to tackle Price Rise and also ask if he is fit for his position as the Agriculture Minister! And, it's the poor farmers who at a huge loss are committing suicide and there's no attempt on part of the Govt to keep that in check.
3) Arrogance in Governance
With no elections in the near few months, the UPA is not seriously focusing on the "aam aadmi". And to add more woe, petrol prices are going to be hiked as well! With just 58% voting itself we people are suffering so much, then imagine what had it been somewhere closer to a 100%! Atleast the Govt will act slightly as this much to look for ways of satisfying the remaining 42% as or else it would have been an even more arrogant UPA.
I remember that there was a Oath taken before the elections that within 100 days prise rise will be in control.
We can be dam sure of there being a huge scam involved that's lead us to this situation with of course the support of the corrupt Administration, Government Departments and the Politicians! With no scope for promotions of the honest, what more can we expect but a spoilt tomato spoiling the rest too.
4) Lack of thoughts and farsightedness
India doesn’t have a mechanism which measures the food produce, the food wasted (this is very important), the projection of food production, the projection of food necessity, the current food necessity, the current population and its food needs, the projected population in future and its food needs, and lots of other measures.
India has never managed to develop this “measuring” system which would have solved lots of its problems. Or perhaps the rulers of the Indian democracy never wanted to develop such a system in the first place...
Neta –Traders and Neta-share broker nexus and it is be beyond the control of the government or the administration. Mr. Sharad Pawar openly says prices will go up. When Ministers issues such irresponsible statement, market overreacts and it is natural.
Our beloved central government giving excuses like global slowdown or lesser production or bad climate. You might have heard on TV and read in print media that onion and rice in huge quantity were exported inspite of ban on export of rice.
Business house are however very much clever and they keep good relation with all political parties. Obviously leaders of all parties enjoy and it is only common men who suffer the most. Leaders of UPA government blame state governments for current price rise and accuse them for spurt in prices. But they forget that prices are rising even in those states where UPA is in power. When government is not bothered, let the public suffer and revolt against price rise.
