A Test of Spoken English
Recently, a test of spoken English will be included as an optional component of College English Test. Everyone has his attitude towards it. An argument is evitable among students.
Some students hold that as a basic part of the language, spoken English is becoming more and more important in modern society. One will not likely achieve success if he can not even speak English. In addition, fluent oral English is an indication of one's mastery of the language. Therefore, a test should be designed to evaluate one's ability of spoken English.
However, some people think there is no point taking such a test. They argue that written exam is enough to indicate one's English level. As far as one would not like to study abroad or cooperate with foreigners in foreign enterprises or companies, one don't have to worry about taking a test of spoken English. Because written English enables students not only to read reference books but also work on Internet. Therefore, in their opinion, a test of spoken English will only add to the students' load. It's not absolutely necessary for students to take it.
As far as i am concerned, a test of spoken English is necessary. A test can simulate one to improve his oral English. With China entering WTO, competence can be more fierce in the information age. Only you are equipped with knowledge, so that you can achieve success and you can buy anything you want. As for a girl wants to buy a herve leger dress, she must be competent.
