Global Work Experience
It was my first day at Oracle.I was hired in the recruitment team for the shared services centre of Oracle. While I was waiting at the reception for somebody from the team to do some handholding, I was amazed to see the number of foreign nationals walking around.
The striking thing about GFIC is the number of foreign nationals working there. GFIC hires foreign nationals to handle the transaction processing work that comes from different parts of the world in their respective languages.
Exposure to a fast growing economy and an opportunity to be part of a brand like Oracle had been the motivating factors for youngsters across the world looking for an opportunity in GFIC.
To give you an overview of GFIC. Global Finance Information centre based in Bangalore is the shared services centre of Oracle. GFIC is a captive unit which provides support for financial operations of Oracle worldwide.
Here are a few comments from foreign nationals working in GFIC on their experience living and working in India.
Kamilla from Romania
Bangalore- how many times I dreamt of visiting this city, hoping that one day I could be part of its traffic. And it happened. From Oracle Romania to Oracle India. Just a matter of geography. A three plus nine hour journey. The discovery of a new world. An amazing, colourful city, full of life, movement, noise. New tastes, new fragrances, new sounds. Friendly people. Re-born in India. The office: a blend of Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali and other languages, ethnic days, sarees, Punjabi suits, festivals. It is Oracle- Oracle India. An international brand with local traditions. Recommended for adventure-loving people.
Hafiza Salim From Indonesia:
I am a native speaker of Bahasa Indonesia and obviously I'm from Indonesia. Here in GFIC Oracle, India, I'm handling Malaysia collection. So, how come an Indonesian handle Malaysia collection? The answer is because Malaysia and Indonesia share the same language, only in Malaysia the call it Bahasa Melayu. The accent is different but we can understand each other perfectly well.
First time I came to GFIC Oracle, I felt so excited and at the same time I felt a little bit worried because this is my first experience working abroad. However, after seeing Oracle environment and the people here, I feel that I'm lucky to be here. To work in a world wide company and to work with such pleasant people that make me feel like home is something that I just enjoy a lot and be grateful.
I have no problem with the weather here in Bangalore because I think, more or less it's the same as in my country, Indonesia (hot and raining). The only difference is only in winter time. In Indonesia the weather is never this cold (cold places in Indonesia you can find only in mountainous places and hill stations) and about the food, honestly, I just love it! as all people know that Indian food is very famous all around the world, so I don't want to miss this one.
Thus, Oracle is a place where I can learn a lot of stuff and to work in Oracle is an experience that I will always treasure in my life.
GFIC has always been giving great opportunity for candidates with the following language skills.
