They should be familiar and aware of the social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Plaxo, Bloggers, Myspace, Wordpress and many more and they should continously engage with atleast one of these networking sites.
Through these sites you can easily be connected to colleagues, friends, media, groups where you can exchange your views, ideas, leave comments, collect feedbacks, keep updated with news of different places, new technologies, products, interact with other PR professionals with in the community.
Social Networking is a time consuming process, so one should lay emphasis on time management and be purposeful in using this online tool for PR activities. PR professional should understand his target audience and discover means to attract users in best possible ways. He should know how to engage them in coversation about a client/ product/ organisation and why should they join the community. A PR practitioner can use Push and Pull Digital technology, where he can involve the user having to seek out and directly grab (or pull) the content via websearch. Push digital practice involves both Creater of a message as well as a Recepients (the user). Email, SMS. RSS are example of push digital practice.
The goal of PR Practitioner is to reach to target audience and convey the idea/ message/ product of its client or organisation.
