Extended Working Hours: Raising an Alarm
The question is- Does all the companies in India abide by any such law? If the companies has to, then why are steps not taken against the companies not following those norms? On the time of joining promises are made by the owners/ the HR head about the working hours and days(6 days in a week with 2nd and 4th saturdays being offs). There are companies in India which does not even bother to deliver what has been promised to the employees. Once they join they are asked to work almost on all the non-working days, including sundays, without any complementary pay or offs. It is taken as a part of your responsibilty, and this happens with people who perform - isn't it shocking! The non- performers enjoy their salary as well as all the holidays!! The star performers eventually get de-motivated and even if they desire, they are unable to put in their cent percent b'coz of the conflict with in the mind, and the explicit unfairness to them. After holding on for sometime most of the employees leave, but the owners/directors doe not seem to bother because they are sure that they will be able to recruit new people who would be ready to work like this.
Does such practices be allowed to carry on? How can such practices be suspended? Please contribute your comments...looking forward to hear from you all.
