This option appears in the parameter list in the Boot Camp Assistant to use the configuration file, specify which Mac models can support CD-ROM to start or USB flash drive to install Windows support in Boot Camp partition. All Mac computer can be started from a USB drive for OS X, Apple's Boot Camp Assistant, use this parameter table, displayed with the EFI-level support for older operating systems from USB flash drives to start the latest Mac models.

The main advantage of using USB flash drives is that if there is no CD-ROM burner, you can still rip DVD on Mac by creating a bootable Windows7 volume from the disk image file (ISO). The paper sets out a range of support for USB flash drives start Mac models, each model is marked in accordance with the first to write letters and internal architecture version. Although the file contains a belt drive of the MacBook and MacBook Pro, but most Mac computers in the supported list have no optical drive.
The list of models is including the "MM50" (Mac mini, X series, is also known as the "Mid 2011 Mac mini" is the first non-server version without CD-ROM drive Mac mini), has no optical drive models include the MacBook Air. In the USB boot supported list, the two models is not yet released a Mac: MP60 (sixth-generation Mac Pro or MacPro6, X-) and IM130 (13 generations iMac or iMac13-X-).

The appearance of new Mac Pro and the iMac is not sure on behalf of these models will certainly have no drive, because the list with the optical drive the MacBook and MacBook Pro. Meanwhile, Apple has launched the latest Mac mini and the retina screen MacBook Pro, showing they plan to give up the drive as soon as possible to provide external USB drive for the needs of users.
After the Mac Pro was given a quiet update this year, many were wondering about the future of Apple's desktop line of Macs. Both Apple CEO Tim Cook and an unnamed Apple spokesperson have confirmed that the Mac Pro will receive a full redesign for delivery sometime in 2013, nearly three years after the last significant update to the product.
Because most third-party software can be downloaded from the Internet, or be purchased directly from the vendors and Apple App Store, users do not use drive frequently any more. Apple is also regarding the online sales as the future of the music and movie sales, Apple TV is an example, which has never been with a CD-ROM.
It is still not sure the speculation is true or not, anyhow, now your Mac still has the optical drivers.
