This study serves as an update of the Internet Top Sources of Traffic technically focusing on major search engines. The data should be based on which search engine or in what way did the user use in order to arrive to a said website.

The data is sampled from 30 random websites using the Google Analytics Tool as of December 2008. Chart shows the 75% of traffic is accredited to Google search, 9% to Yahoo, 3% to MSN, 6% to the other seach engines and 9% by referral websites. By referral, we mean that a user arrive to a certain website by clicking through links which are found from other domain.

In a related study pertaining to internet traffic sources , it has been found that there is a significant increase of usage of Google search engine from 60.94% as of October 2006 to 71.86% as of December 2008. While Google has been slowly increasing its usage, other search engines are losing its share.

Yet still, Google is maintaining its top position spot and even increasing the gap of usage from other search engines.

Recommendations:
1. Write for your visitors because Google is a search engine that loves returning search results in favor of content quality and authority.
2. Never underestimate referral traffic, in this case, use your site as forum signature or place some links in related high traffic websites.
3. Let Google search engine be your number 1 organic traffic priority because of its 75% share. Get your website ranked highly in Google!
