Unable to Paste Text in a PowerPoint Presentation
MS PowerPoint is a powerful application by Microsoft that allows you to express your ideas via presentations. PowerPoint Presentations comprise of individual pages called slides and allow you to add text, objects, images, and more in the slides to make it informative.
But, disasters occur and they play havoc on your presentation, on which you have spent your valuable time and efforts, and your presentation stops responding or closes abruptly when you try to paste some text in the presentation. This strikes you as weird and you are unable to understand what has happened. You try to open the file to start working again, but the file refuses to open up. This is owing to PowerPoint file corruption. You have to use a backup file to get your data back. But, if the backup fails to work, you need to Repair PowerPoint files to retrieve your data using a third-party file repair application.
Suppose, while pasting some data or text in a PowerPoint presentation, an error message appears that states:
“PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close.”
After this error message, neither the data gets pasted, nor does the application allow you to do anything else. Instead, the application closes down unexpectedly.
Cause:
This error message primarily occurs due to damaged PowerPoint registry subkey. However, the error may also occur if the PowerPoint file is corrupt.
Resolution:
Deleting the PowerPoint registry subkey would solve the issue if it was caused due to PowerPoint registry subkey damage. This can be done by following the below mentioned steps:
Firstly, you need to Click 'Run' in the Start menu.
Then, type 'regedit' in the Open menu and click OK. The registry editor will open.
Click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\10.0\PowerPoint subkey in the registry editor.
Then, click Export on the File menu and delete the subkey.
After this, you need to quit registry editor and restart PowerPoint. And, you will be able to paste text or perform any other operation in PowerPoint without any errors.
But, if the problem continues to exist, then it might be due to PowerPoint file corruption. If this is so, then you can use a PowerPoint Recovery software to Repair PowerPoint file. One should select the repair application carefully and ensure that the tool selected, repairs and restores the PowerPoint file without altering the original content of the file.
