The term “Global Warming” has become so popular across the globe that every organization and individuals are working really hard in bringing up the environment to its green state which is really appreciable; however it is truly heart downing that people in India are missing some imperative things which can be controlled in order to make this Global Warming concept better.

Some of my observations are given below:

News Papers and Magazines:

We know for a fact that the News Papers are supposed to be printed for the information sake but unfortunately, news papers are being printed with more entertainment news rather than general awareness news.

Is it really necessary for us to know which celebrity went with whom and came back with whom? Or which celebrity bought what to his / her partner in order to impress him / her? Also there are some news papers which have only Photographs of the people who are really partying hard. Unfortunately, these people are not great celebrities but are being made as celebrities in order to generate revenue.

As per the study in Paper University, we understand that One Tree can contribute 2,700 copies of a 35-page newspaper and each paper can be recycled for 5 – 7 times and let us consider the 7 times for our calculations.

In this 35 Page news paper, two complete pages are of no news (only photographs) and at least another 3 pages are of silly news related to celebrities and their affairs and activities. This way if we count on a daily basis, nearly 5 Pages out of 35 Pages are being wasted and we know for a fact in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata need some Lakhs of Prints per day. Let us consider the least count as 1 Lakh Prints.

Mentioned below is a rough calculation on the wastage of paper from metropolitans:

One paper can be recycled for 7 times, therefore we can divide the above number by 7 (Fortunately)

The count comes down to 2142857.

Hence we can conclude that total number of Pages being wasted per month per metropolitan is 2142857.

As mentioned above, one tree can contribute nearly 2,700 copies of 35 Page news pages that imply 2,700 x 35 is equals to 94500 pages.

Dividing the total count (2142858) by 94500 will give us the value 22.6 with which it’s understood that one metropolitan is wasting nearly 23 trees for 1 Lakh Prints per month. Taking one such magazine and above mentioned 5 Metropolitans the calculations can be as follows:

Therefore total 1320 trees per year, per Magazine in all Metropolitans are being wasted.

These trees take years to grow and we take minutes to shrink them. I’m not denying the fact that the revenue is being generated and Indian economy is developing because of news papers and magazine. But, all I say is Environment is more important than money. What can we do with money if there is no food to eat and no water to drink?

Also I’m not asking to stop printing news papers and magazines, but asking to save just 5 Pages per Magazine and we should try to keep ourselves away from futile news and if still interested, go through the web as it is understood that a person is capable enough to read a news paper is competent enough to read E-Paper or news on a website.

I personally feel that we should open our eyes and start looking for such trivial things if we are really working hard towards Global Warming as we are really facing the real scarcity of rains.
