School Education in Rural India
SCHOOL EDUCATION IN RURAL INDIA
According to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER)- 2009, 50% of children in rural India were atleast three grade level behind where they need to be. The report also tells that the trend of sending children to private tuition was rising.
We believe it or not these are hard facts. The successive Governments both at the centre and at the states shall shoulder responsibility for these declining trends in the field of education.
There may be too many reasons for the declining trend, but we should not hesitate to say the reservation on caste/community basis in the field of education is one such contributing factor.
In India merit is not respected rather the non meritorious and non-serious are respected in the name of social justice. The future of the future citizens of India is kept in the hands of these non-serious, non-meritorious teachers.
What could we expect from this stuff? As long as the reservations are continued in the professions like Teaching, Medicine, Defence etc. fields the fate of India will definitely tend to decline in the days to come. If a nation has no respect to its meritorious Human Resource and declining them opportunities, how can we expect a country to flourish?
The Governments are promoting casteism in the country with the reservations on caste basis and widening the gaps among the castes. China is marching a head on education front while India is showing a declining trend. The most tragic thing is in India we consider a person literate, if he could able to sign. These standards have to be modified, to show our seriousness in the field of education.
