Distance education: career development factor
Despite various checks by the government there are private institute as well working out on their profits by offering degree and master degree with ambiguity in the degree name.
What should a students look for before taking admission is any distance learning program:
Universities
1) Should be approved by UGC
2) Should have approval from DEC for the current year
3) Some of the universities are also having DEC-UGC-AICTE joint committee approval.
Institutes
Institutes offering distance learning courses should have DEC approval for current session.
Should focus on following points to avoid wasting time and money:
1) ISO certification: There are so many institute showing ISO certification. ISO certification is just a certification for operational procedures and is now where should be mistaken with accreditation.
Some of the institute in India and Abroad have gone too far in showing ISO certification as accreditation of their institute.
2) Education Society / Trust: formation of education society / trust is mandatory for education institute. This also not be taken as education accreditation.
3) Foreign Accreditation: Please check with the accreditation body of the country. There are so many fake accreditation body in the world and they have approved many universities.
Distance learning tips:
1) Study the material provided by the university. Also refer to reference books.
2) Do not focus on passing the exams only. It effects your career if you donot have the right knowledge after completing the course.
3) Focus on enhancing your functional capabilities while doing your course. If you can study specific topics more with references you get the advantage of implementing these strategies in your present functions.
4) Start observing what is happening about you in your present function and try work out new strategy based on new concepts.
