polio vaccine for a hiv+ child
A child who is suffering from hiv AIDS should not be treated with oral polio vaccines.there is a chance of paralysis that can be a life threatingcondition Question is that how achild of below 5year age can be effected with AIDS? well would love to tell you if we read the etiological factor's & responsible causes we will know that AIDS can transmitt from "MOTHER TO FETUS" a mother who is effected with AIDS if no preventation is taken therte is a chances of contamination through blood & off spring might get infection. come to the topic again What is in the vaccine that in case of AIDS it paralyses the body of off spring or child? if the nature of vaccine is studied we found that in opv there are live polio viruses which are attinuated mean's they are live but their toxicity or ability of causeing polio is descreses in minimum extent so they can't cause disease even whenever they come in contact with antigen's of polio virus they act on specific sites & act against the polio virus. inthe case of hiv effected child his immunity is already lost due to the infection with hiv AIDS. when the OPV is given to such child the virus can easily cause the polio disease.That's why in such case's the IPV is given to children's. IPV is INACTIVATED ORAL POLIO VACCINE. it is prefered by doctor's to a children who is effected with AIDS. in this vaccine there are viruses but they are in inactivated form so the chances of getting infacted descreases. HOW IPV ACT'S when the viruses of polio enter in the body the vaccine comes in activated form & it act against the antigen of polio.in such machanism the body of HIV + child is protacted from polio disease which is a major cause of death in rural & urban communities. polio vaccines is given to childrens who are below 5 year in age.
