Types of Dust Collector Systems Used for Air Pollution Control in Industries

Lot of dust, debris and various other harmful gases are released from the processes in the industries. Therefore in order to clean these heavily dust laden air in industrial environments, regular air pollution control devices could not be effective. As such the specialized dust collector systems built for robust work environments are employed to control the rate of pollution at the workplace in these industries.

These dust collecting systems are either installed individually or as a part of some other industrial production system to control amount of undesired particulates in the air. A dust collector system for industries can play an important role to clean air for further processes in various applications. Different forms of dust collecting equipments are used in industrial processes which include equipments like cyclone dust collector system, multiclones, cartridge type dust collectors and shaker type dust collection systems.

Cyclone/Multiclone Dust Collectors

A cyclone dust collector enhances the quality of air by filtering the dust and other impurities from it. The centrifugal systems called the cyclone and the multiclone dust collectors are the most efficient of all the air pollution control systems used for industrial applications. These dust collection devices filter dust from air with a cyclonic action. Here the air spins continuously as it enters the cyclone and this spinning motion of air throws out the dust particles towards the walls which finally get collected in hoppers underneath. This way air is purified of the undesired particulates with the help of cyclone dust collector systems. A multicone is nothing but a group of such small-diameter cyclone dust collectors. When a number of small-diameter cyclones are used collectively, this gives rise to an efficient air dust handler with which heavy duty air purifying tasks can be performed.

Cartridge Type Dust Collectors

Cartridges are the filtering entities made out of synthetic fibers. Made out of these synthetic fiber cartridges, cartridge type dust collector system is capable of filtering out even the sub-micron particles present in air thereby promising a better efficiency in air cleaning task. The cartridge type dust collectors are usually self cleaning systems employed with pulse jet cleaning system for better efficiency in filtration jobs.

Shaker Type Dust Collectors

In shaker type dust collector air is purified in bags made of materials like polyester. These bags filter out the dust from the air and are usually cleaned manually, while the motorized cleaning systems are available. As in other forms of dust collectors, shaker type dust collecting systems do not require any compressed air for the cleaning process and are the most economical dust collecting systems.  They are used in various applications in industrial jobs like ceramic, plastic, pulp & paper, woodworking, grinding, sanding, packaging, polishing etc.

Conclusion:

Therefore there are different kinds of dust collecting systems available today for air cleaning requirements in industries. One should carefully select an appropriate dust collector suitable to their requirements in order to get best out of it.
