US-India Science & Tech Endowment
The aim of this Fund is to strengthen and expand cooperation between the two countries in Science & Technology for public good. This endevour is to add another bond in building sustained partnership for mutual benefit to both the countries.
Some of you may be old enough to remember KIAP, an acronym for Kanpur Indo American Program back in 1958. On the request of Government of India, American Society for Engineering Education sent a team of six American Educators to visit IIT Kanpur. A consortium of nine institutes - Caltech, MIT, Princeton, UC Berkeley, Purdue, Carnegie, Ohio State, University of Michigen and Case University provided technical assitance to IIT Kanpur till 1972.
This cooperation was instrumental in launching IIT Kanpur as a world class engineering school. Contribution of IITK graduates to both India and US is fairly well established and continues to benefit both even after half a century.
Maybe the next BIG Gem is waiting to come out from this Endowment!
