Motorola Sold 5.3 Million Smartphones 4Q11

According to the fourth quarter and 2011 financial report, MOTOROLA mobile technology holdings Co., LTD sold over 10 million units mobile terminal products, including 5.3 million units smartphone in the fourth quarter in 2011.

The report said the total shipment of the fourth quarter last year was 10.5 million units and the net revenue was USD 3.4 billion, almost the same with 2010. Although Motorola's net revenue numbered USD 13.1 billion in 2011, an increase of 14%, it saw loss.

Following the merger with Google, Motorola has launched several smartphones powered by Google Android OS. Worth mentioning is that the ultra-thin smartphone Droid Razr has been an outstanding device in the global emerging smartphone market. Sanjay Jha, the Chief Executive Officer of  Motorolapointed out the consolidation with Google will boost Motorola to keep innovating.

Motorola claimed that Droid Razr is the thinnest smartphone so far. Its thickness is 7.1 mm, thinner than iPhone 4S. Being protected by KEVLAR outer skin, it is waterproof. Moreover, its battery life is claimed to be 30% longer than similar devices.
