Anna strike dampens Delhi University poll spirit
Long-awaited Delhi University Student Union elections are only days away, but no one hardly notices. Anna Hazare, the effect has taken its toll on one of the key events in the capital at this time of year.
The students had no time to prepare their manifesto as the anti-corruption held. Now that the deadline for submission of applications, August 29 is fast approaching, preparations for elections scheduled for September 9 back up. Dinesh C Varshney, Deputy Dean, South Campus, said: "Election Action has just begun There are a lot of buzz for the students to vote this time because of the corruption of the movement we have not received one nomination so far ... " It is said Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is ready to present its 26 candidates in August. The party secured three of the four seats in recent elections, sweeping hopes to win this time.

ABVP president Rohit Chahal said: "We have appointed a selection committee, chaired by senior party members from the state. We took the three seats last year and are confident of bagging all four this time."
About the Congress affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI), the rival party, he added, "Because of the anti-government protest on the grounds of corruption, promotional activities not NSUI taken out yet. "
Meanwhile, the national president Hibi Eden NSUI said: "We are trying to offer the right candidate, which may have an advantage in surveys of students. Girls uninterrupted
Delhi University students rally to keep all the girls in the North campus on Wednesday to support the anti-corruption. The girls will begin in March, the Faculty of Letters at noon. More than 1,000 students from universities around the university has written to the event.
