IGNOU to suggest courses in warehousing, accounting

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will soon be offering programmes in warehousing, financial accounting and office management in a bid to provide more job-oriented courses, a university official said Wednesday.

The varsity's Centre for Corporate Education Training and Consultancy (CCETC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Centre for Business Education's (NCBE) National Collateral Management Services Ltd. (NCMSL).

"Employment opportunities for students will increase with this Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to make a business student ready", the director NCBE Mukund S. Annigeri said.

"They have the academic knowledge, but not the experience. We have structured the course to provide on the job for them," he said.

Post-graduate in stock, logistics and supply chain management degree in accounting and taxation, and a course certificate management office and human resource management offers the Memorandum of Understanding.

IGNOU VN Rajasekharan Pillai Vice-Chancellor said: "We want to show and to provide training and capacity building to enable students to obtain certification."

"When we look at people with skills in the field of warehousing, logistics and supply or even in the agricultural sector, do not understand. Experience in the area of expertise is required to be filled," said Sanjay Kaul CEO NCMSL.

"The price of storage and office management is another program based on employment skills development, which aims to fill these gaps," said Kaul.
