Indiana University to partner with two leading Indian management institutes

Thanks to the School of Business at Indiana University Kelley, IU will expand its presence in India through partnerships with two Indian Institute of Management places in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on Wednesday (August 31).

The signings are part of a 11-day visit to India by IU President Michael A. McRobbie and several university administrators and deans. During the trip, including stops in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad, the group will meet with several universities in India president and alumni, business leaders and politicians, including Vice President of India Shri M. Ansari, Hamid.

"We live, work and learn in a world of increasing globalization, which requires that we provide to our students and faculty with a myriad of international opportunities to provide the best education possible," McRobbie said. "Partnerships to establish contacts and we are doing in India are consistent with our international strategic plan and open the door for future opportunities in this important part of the world."

IU has a strong student and faculty ties with India: 7000 international university students, 800 are in India, the third largest population IU International. The university also has more than 240 professors of Indian origin.

The five-year agreement with the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, one of the best and the oldest of 13 such institutes in India, formalize and develop relations between the Kelley School and Lucknow, while the association with IIM Rohtak the first collaboration between the UI and the most recent meeting.

Center of the IU-IIM Lucknow has agreed a plan to create a joint Masters in business analysis and strategy as part of a Global Executive MBA program offered by IIM Lucknow Noida Campus. Kelley School faculty have taught courses in IIM Lucknow, and the two schools are expected to offer short-term study abroad program for this academic year is IIM Lucknow Executive MBA students to teach the Kelley School faculty.

The MoU with IIM Rohtak, also a five-year agreement will initially focus on research workshops for teachers and development of graduate students. Finally, Kelley School and IIM Rohtak hope to provide a framework for dual MBA program for professionals working in India.

Wednesday was signed by President McRobbie during the first day in New Delhi, following the visits to Mumbai and Bangalore. While in New Delhi, McRobbie is a Confederation of India Industry speech at lunch Friday (Sept. 2), where he will sign the contract between the UI and the CII, which will outline future cooperation. CII is India's largest commercial business.

Also on Friday, will begin the conference sponsors McRobbie IU of globalization and the OP Jindal Global University, and the contingent will meet with IU Vice President Ansari. Christen its latest set of events Alumni Club Saturday night before the trip to Hyderabad is the last leg of the trip next Monday (September 5).
