Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nasik was founded in 1989, Maharashtra State Legislative Act No. XX. This is the first Mega Open University in India has awarded the prestigious Award for Excellence in Institution reached in 2002, "Commonwealth of Learning," in Canada. YCMOU is the fifth Open University in the country, and has been recognized by the Commission of university grants, India.
