Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in collaboration with UNICEF, has launched a unique program that can help to "base" of the media to disseminate state-sponsored social systems effectively.

The program, launched earlier this month while in Delhi, Bhopal and Jabalpur, intend to educate journalists about the plans that have a direct impact on the rural masses as vaccination campaigns, a said Director of the School of Journalism and New Media Studies IGNOU, Shambhu Nath Singh.

"The program will run through the exploitation of IGNOU infrastructure and way of video-conferencing and shared IGNOU faculty and industry," said Singh.

He said the exercise is more than a week of brainstorming sessions, to help professionals in the media in developing a good Grassroot perspective of social systems leads so you can effectively disseminate and raise awareness.

Candidates will receive a certificate after completion of the course with IGNOU and UNICEF said. IGNOU will provide a solid video conferencing to reach the national, state and district strategic media and interactive workshops in the coming months, he said.

Focus on aspects of vaccination is the main purpose of the mission to increase its level of penetration, he said. A study published by UNICEF in 2009, is the main reason behind the immunization coverage in India is lower than mothers do not feel the need to vaccinate their children (28.2 percent), followed by a lack knowledge about the vaccine (26.3 percent).

IGNOU had previously also linked to UNESCO to jointly certify the previous course in journalism and communication. Singh said media literacy survey in collaboration with UNICEF will also reach targeted candidates in states like Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, etc., selected by a screening process.

The experience of the exhibition, he said, would also increase the degree of trust between the scribes to contribute their best to elevate the masses.
