No age bar for comprehension quest
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), regional centre, Nagpur, celebrated its second foundation day yesterday. This university paves an undemanding and easy passage for the laudable endeavors these people intend to realize. "Age is just a state of mind" is the kind of attitude the students of this university have towards life. IGNOU has been lucratively spreading education in about 36 countries of the world beyond social and economical barriers.
Most of the senior citizens have counted and are counting on this university for taking degrees in varied subjects and IGNOU promises them a future.
A gathering of those people was witnessed on the foundation day who either are studying in the university or else those who had just enrolled for taking up courses and degrees.
Thanking IGNOU for helping him take a leap forward in getting educated, AK Patil, 60, has many reasons for a new beginning at this age, when people retire, spend time at home and look after their grandchildren.
"I am going in for my MA in history. IGNOU has provided me with study material. I am grateful to them for considering me eligible for getting a degree because they allow us to suit our convenience. No time and place bound conditions are placed so the effort one has to put in is less. I wish to study so that I can mentor rural crowd towards a better life and educate them. I am planning to get a Phd as well."
BS Kashyap has philosophical notions about life and he believes it to be a gift which can be best utilized through learning more and more. "There is no end to knowledge and each day we learn, we realize how less we know of all we can know. Strive towards perfection with commitment and devotion and be a constant learner. I am self motivated and I wish to learn more in order to spread education. Learning is my hobby and my best leisure pursuit."

Rita Peter Paul is a woman running in her fifties and she exclaims how fantabulous it feels to sit in a lecture and see younger people educating them. "Limitless pleasure is derived in gaining knowledge. My family is rather more keen is helping me take a degree. IGNOU has made it possible for a house-wife and a working woman both to take up education as an option. It is a feeling of achievement."
RM Hedaoo has just enrolled to take up the course and it's his desire to be an all round educator. "After having experienced the science background, I wish to learn literature to broaden my horizons of knowledge. I have just got the books and they are of finest literature. My family has inspired me to go ahead in educating myself. I have just retired and I wish to get a BA degree as of now."
