IGNOU, Intel extend awareness to use ICT in education

"We have all been considered, formulated and implemented national policies and organizational strategies and action plans for ICT. There are priorities in the face to all of us to become a knowledge society, focusing on information and technology.

But because of the dynamic environment, the challenges are more acute and more intense. This workshop examines these opportunities and priorities to maximize the benefits of ICTs for development in education, "said VN Rajasekharan Pillai Professor, VC, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), while inaugurating a consultative meeting on use of ICT in education systems and policies on campus in the capital.

The consultative meeting was organized by IGNOU distance education Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Programme (DEP-SSA) and Intel Corporation to educate, share ideas and experiences on the use of ICT in education among the main politicians and government, academia and research, industry and civil society actors.

"Given the rapid pace that the world is changing, there is a need for our education systems to provide the next generation of students to become productive and capable of tomorrow. We are pleased to partner with IGNOU and other key stakeholders in central and state governments and universities on this road for Educational Transformation, "said Ashutosh Chadha, Director of Corporate Affairs Group, Intel South Asia during the session.

In recognition of the need for players to navigate their way through a very complex part of the Knowledge Society, IGNOU, and Intel Corp. joined together to investigate and to build thinking about issues related to society and pillars of the ICT training and training systems and practices.

The workshop also examined the specific experiences of ICT in the educational systems of different countries, such as a case study of Jordan, Singapore and Thailand in particular benefit from the experience in India.

Since the broader objective of the workshop, the convergence of conceptual frameworks and practical experience in the role of ICT in education policy and its relationship with the transformation of education again to share their ideas on the development and implementation of the policies of Indian states .

The deliberations and consultations focused on the clarity and look forward with fundamental changes in political organization and management, curriculum and assessment, professional development of teachers, teaching and learning, research and evaluation and possible ICT development.
