Food Safety Management System

INTRODUCTION:-

ISO 22000 Standard is a Food Safety Management system (FSMS). Safety is necessary because unsafe food is dangerous to health and if it happens, the hazards to consumers may be serious. This system includes-

  1. Feed Procedures,
  2. Primary procedures,
  3. Food manufacturers,
  4. Transport and Storage Operators,
  5. Equipments procedures,
  6. Packaging Materials,
  7. Additives and ingredients.

Benefits:-

1. ISO 22000 will make it easier for organization to implement HACCP that is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point for food hygiene.

2. ISO 22000 is fully compatible with ISO 9001:2000. Companies already certified to ISO 9001 will find easy to extend their certification to ISO 22000.

Awareness is necessary for this system and this systems coves safety in-

  1. Raw material,
  2. Manufacturing records,
  3. HACCP record,
  4. Procedures packaging,
  5. Storage,
  6. Transportation.

Purchasing of Raw Materials- hazards occurs in buying raw material, which are not safe or which is not in required quality. Checking of pH value and Flavors is necessary while buying the raw materials.

Processing- Handling the food and safety is required in processing procedures. Safety is needed from machines, mens. Temperature should be low to prevent the growth of microorganism.

Storage- if there is need so we should keep food inside the freezer, their may be digital display on the outside, so we can check insides temperatures and we check and control temperature frequently. If food is in liquid form then we can store it in SILOS or HOPPERS and check and control temperature and moistures frequently.

Transport- Food should be transport safely without damaging & food should be clean, if refrigerator is needed so should be provide. The temperature inside the vehicle is necessary to control and we keep the record of this.
