Home ministry Vs Almighty;who will emrge as winner by rescuing us?
Terror has hit India again. This time the place is Gawahati. In spite of infinite number of warnings from various sections, the Home ministry has failed once again to contain the violence. These blasts indicate that the government has not only been negligent but it has also been reckless towards the security of the people and nation.
It is believed that ULFA group in Assam is the mastermind behind these blasts.ULFA is a extremist group formed by the refugees hailing from Bangladesh. This group has been in the news for about past six years and due to the negligent attitude of the government, today it has cruised to a threatening status. It is worthwhile to recollect the comments of a supreme court judge in 2005 regarding the security conditions in east india and especially assam. In fact the ARMY was forced to withdraw its operations against ULFA in the name of ceasefire.Operations like ceasefire usually play a pivotal role to soften the tense situations. But this has been an exception because ceasefire was imposed with a political intention. These stunts may yield political mileage but at the cost of peace and stability of the nation. To deepen the fears further,There is a growing suspecion among the intelligence agencies that the ULFA and other operative forces are being supported and trained by the islamic organisations which have been actively involved in the series of the serial blasts that have taken place round the country in the past twenty months. The planing and execution of these blasts require professional and equipped infrastructure that can hardly be borne out from the ULFA's cadre.
The soft attitude towards this issue is the last thing that we cannot afford. The government must come up with more rigid laws to fight these threats. The conferences held in the AC chambers of Mr Shivraj Patil's office are insane.Making an appearance in the victim areas does not give any clear picture to the Minister. With a half-knowingness of the situation the ministry will end up finally with a inefficient solution.Additionally, the top-notch cadre in delhi practically has no clue of the social conditions that are creating the menace. And unless we get an idea of the cause we cannot find a solution.People through out the India have been roaring loud to awaken the concerned bodies to act.The indian military or security agencies cannot be questioned on the grounds of their caliber and efficiency. In fact we have one of the worlds best cadre. So,when the administrators are efficient then the blame should be ultimately put on the policy makers
Taking terrorism seriously does not mean encounters and frightening operations which effect the common people. In fact,To restore the stability in those areas, common people must not suffer the consequences of patrolling and interrogations. In this aspect a soft attitude is must.Because the common people off late have been the most common subjects of harassment in such issues.
rather than conducting conferences with the top cadre officials,it would sound more effective to take inputs from the lower cadres of officials who practically deal with the common people day to day. They understand the problem more clearly and can be handy in preparing effective laws.
Now it is all upto the government. But if it continues its hibernation then we must probably leave the issue to the almighty as he alone can help us in such a situation.
